On Tuesday, day 2 on the sales floor, I closed my first sale. A $4000 multi-year renewal deal. It felt good. I got to ring the bell on the sales floor. Everyone clapped. Th vp of sales came right up to my desk and got in my face with this huge smile. “This makes me very happy.” As he walked away he remarked back to me, “Its like a drug. You’ll want more and more.” But you see closing a sale isn't the hit for me. Because after the sale high drops. There’s just a list of calls to make. Successes pass by just as quickly as failure. Neither stay long. As John Mayer expressed at a recent show, “I’ve realized everything you love and hate leaves at the same speed … The thing you hate that you have to do tomorrow will be over before you know it, and the thing you're looking forward to tomorrow will be over before you know it.” If the good and the bad pass, What’s constant? The reps. Focus on performing the reps today. It's not about the payoff at the end. That will pass just as quickly as this Saturday morning email. But the reps will always be there. That's your constant. P.S. Still feel like you aren't living the life you want? Let's fix that today. Click here to book a 1:1 session with me, and together we'll clarify your vision for your life. |
